Market Context
Red Sea attacks have cut Suez ship transits roughly 70% below 2023 levels while sanctions push China–Europe cargo off the northern rail route, redrawing global freight flows. Kazakhstan is capturing that displaced demand as the anchor state of the Trans-Caspian Middle Corridor, which drew a €10 billion Global Gateway pledge from the EU and partners in January 2024, already about a quarter converted into live projects by December 2025. Capital, policy, and steel are converging now, making Kazakhstan the connective node between China, Central Asia, the Caspian and Europe.
